Road Trip to the D.C.

Last Saturday, April 21st I got into a Prius bound for Washington D.C. I was accompanying a friend who was moving to Virginia for the summer. I figured there is no better way to start the summer of than driving across our beautiful nation.

We drove through Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia,  Virginia, Maryland, and finally D.C.

We stopped in Omaha, NE for out first foodie stop. We ate at a place called Papper Jax.

They had a very good philly cheese steak sandwich. Now, I have actually been to Philly so I have a very have standard for cheese steaks and surprisingly enough Pepper Jax delivered.

I give it 3.5 out of 5 bald heads.

The ratio of meat to vegetables, to bun was spot on. I would have just liked if they had used more cheese. Also, I would have enjoyed if the cheese was more like the cheese whiz that they use on authentic cheese steaks in Philly. Overall, it was very good and I recommend it to anyone driving through or spending sometime in Omaha, NE.

Next we stopped in Chicago for some Deep Dish Pizza! No better place than Gino's East.

We got there sausage pizza. They reason I like Gino's East over all Chicago pizza places i.e. Pizzeria Uno is because they use an entire patty of sausage. This ensures that every bite will have sausage in it.

I give Gino's East a 4 out of 5 Bald Heads.

It is the best Deep Dish, but I still think Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC takes the top stop for pizza.

Out travels ended in Virginia where we crashed after driving for 36 hours straight (I personally drove at least 28 of the hours).  Anywho, we ate a lot of good food in D.C., but that will be for the bext blog post!

This summer is full of traveling, but I still work and do treatment. So to my doctors: there is no need to worry about me.

I am going to have to add Grimaldi's to my bucket list.
